HGV class 1 driver jobs in Wigan

Articulated work belongs to the freight transport by road industry. The 2024 Business Register and Employment Survey counted 1,500 employee jobs in it across Wigan, 1.36% of the 110,000 employee jobs the survey records in the area.

That is the shape most artic drivers would expect: full-time work with part-time hours around the edges.

Across the 153 areas in England the middle is 900. Next to Wigan in that order sit Westmorland and Furness at 1,500 and Cheshire West and Chester at 1,000.

On the separate business register count of freight transport by road workplaces, Wigan ranks 3rd of the 24 areas in the North West. The middle across the North West is 148, against 260 in Wigan. Across the 153 areas in England the middle is 200. Next to Wigan in that order sit Cheshire East at 285 and Bolton at 230.

None of this counts adverts. It counts 1,500 jobs and 260 workplaces that already exist in Wigan, which is a different thing from what is open to apply for today.
